Our Work
We promote the health of the Noosa River Catchment through environmental monitoring, restoration and education. The Noosa River Catchment Management Strategy (3.5MB) is the blueprint for our work.

Headlines
The Sunshine Coast Rivers Initiative (of which NICA is part) was announced the WINNER of the Australian Riverprize on September 2011 at a gala dinner in Brisbane.

NICA's work makes itself known internationally
NICA's projects aiming at engaging the community in activities of waste management, recycling and cleanup have become the inspiration for an article written by Italian Environmental Lawyer Chiara Feliziani and published in the online journal LABSUS. The journal (directed by Professor Gregorio Arena) mainly covers topics of administrative law, but in particular it focuses on the application of horizontal subsidiarity, which is a principle encompassing the active collaboration between the community and the public administration in addressing issues of common interest.

Noosa River Seagrass Monitoring Program 2011

Myrtle Rust in Queensland
The presence of Myrtle rust has now been confirmed in the Sunshine Coast, affecting 30 species of myrtaceous plants. Biosecurity Queensland invites the public to become familiar with what plants are affected, and to report sightings of Myrtle rust by calling 132523. For more information click here.
